To Justice! (or lack thereof)

This is the first and only flash game I made. It was originally published on the flash game site Kongregate. I'm not exactly sure why I did this, but it is probably a mix of:
- Nostalgia: just a tribute to Justice Bao, a celebrated righteous judge in ancient China who inspired my character Judge Expression in Judge Expression’s Courtroom Service. - Intellect: just a self-challenge to race from being a wholesome flash/actionscript dummy to creator of a finished awesome flash game within the 30-day period of Adobe Flash free trial. I did get it done as I am too cheap to dole out $ for the real thing. >> Hmm... come to think of it, now my mind is blanking out on how I actually made the game, so I guess I learned nothing after all... - Vanity: just another desperate attempt to garner anonymous attention. Fail~ I don't think the game ever got out of testing mode because some 15-year old zombie-loving illiterates gave low initial scores. Of course, the game is still epically AWESOME. |
Game Description: A totally baseless commentary on the judicial system (or lack thereof) in ancient China. Justice Bao was a famous righteous government official in the Song Dynasty. Follow him as he navigates through the intrigues and absurdities of ancient Chinese society and imperial court reeked of unprogressive values and thinking. To Justice! 
Instructions: This is a choose-your-destiny type of point and click game. Mouse only: click on the choices at the bottom of each scene. 2 routes (civil or criminal case) + 1 hidden path (tips at the bottom), 16 endings with variations. Enjoy awesomeness!

Here are the main paths and some rarer endings:

"Know Your Boss" ending:
- At the beginning, just keep ignoring the fainted woman - "Never give in to oppression!" - "Curse Heaven" - Enjoy the bolt! Must be highly enlightening. "Earn the right to sleep tight" ending: - When Lotus starts to cry, throw her out - Do not take them back - Start developing a nighttime hobby as you will never sleep well again "Black bun tastes burnt" ending: - "Confront the heartless jerk!" - Bribe the guards - Blackmail Chen - That stuff is carcinogenic! Civil path: - Let Lotus tell her story - "Investigate" - Many different endings from here on "Life is not a presidential debate" ending: - Go to Chen's house - "Suppress the rebel!" - Take on the Emperor - Rant on and on about stuff nobody cares about - Come back in 4 years! Hidden divorce path and "what wacky women want" ending: - When Lotus starts to cry in your house, choose "crying is a woman's privilege." - Choose "Wait a bit more. I know woman." - Bribe the guards - File a divorce - Insist that ancient China has such a thing as divorce - Force Lotus to sign the divorce papers - Go reflect on your evil actions. Tsk tsk! |

- Let Lotus tell her story - "Confront the heartless jerk!" - Retreat - Many different endings from here on "Copycat kills the rat" ending: - Either Go have a drink and do 3 rounds of Bloody Marry Or Go to Chen's house, satisfy the ram's request and follow it Then - Arrest Chen and go to court - Interrogate - Flash the evidence - "Your Majesty, that is exactly the point!" - Love the golden bun! "He loves me!" ending: - Go have a drink - Get Zhan to silence them - Go chat with "Empy" after your hangover - "Chen is a rat, pig, dog, and weasel" - Bear the brunt - "Empy" loves you! "Might is right if you don't put up a fight" ending: - Marriage registry - Bring Mrs. Mei back to Kaifeng - "No! Violence is bad!" - No Nobel Peace Prize for you! "Bitter lingers" ending: - Send Lotus off to hotel - Do not send Zhan - You will never find out what happened |
